Book series I might or might not want to read

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is 'Series I’ve Given Up On/Don’t Plan to Finish.' I'm going to change it to three lists: (1) Book series that I've only read one book and will not read the rest of the series; (2) Books series I might, definitely, maybe will read; and (3) Books series that I plan on finishing.' (Click on the 'link' to find more about the books.)

Book series that I've only read one book and will not read the rest of the series

Shadow Weaver by MarcyKate Connolly
01/ Shadow Weaver by MarcyKate Connolly (2 books) > link
The first book Shadow Weaver was good but not great so I just didn't have much interest in the second book.

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
02/ Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend (# of books?) > link
This first book is just okay but I guess I have too high exceptions so I don't think I'll read the rest of the series.

Inkworld by Cornelia Funke
03/ Inkworld by Cornelia Funke (3 books) > link
Not much to say about this except that it took so long just to finish Inkheart and I find it a bit slow and even though all the things I love in books are there - books, magic, fantasy world, etc, I still don't care to read the other two books.

04/ Oddly Normal by Otis Frampton (3 books?) > link
Oddly Normal is probably the only graphic novel series I'll ever read. I thought it is well drawn and well designed. (I even created a fan art - you can see it here, just scroll down). There are 3 books (which I've already read) so I don't know if there will be more since there seems to be no notice but I'm not interested in more books for now. (It's also a bit confusing how they are released - there are volumes and there are books with all the volumes so if you're interested, get the books not the volumes.)

Book series I might, definitely, maybe will read

East by Edith Pattou
05 East by Edith Pattou (2 books) > link
I just found out about West which will be out October 23 of this year but I am definitely, maybe, probably will read West since I love East which they retitled North Child for obvious reason but now it seems like they have retitled that back to East.

Ghosts of Ordinary Objects by Angie Smibert
06/ Ghosts of Ordinary Objects by Angie Smibert (3 books) > link
The first book - Bone's Gift - has an intriguing premise - 'Twelve-year-old Bone possesses a Gift that allows her to see the stories in everyday objects.' But I still haven't decided if I'm going to read it plus the rest of the series hasn't been released yet.

Books series that I plan on finishing

Replica by Lauren Oliver
07/ Replica by Lauren Oliver (2 books) > link
I have read Replica and almost love it but somehow I just didn't seem to be able to finish reading the second book - Ringer. I guess I was put off by the teenage (almost) sex scene - I mean, why are these teens think it's a good idea to have sex in a dingy basement? Is that suppose to be romantic? I guess I should have read Lyra's side first. (If you don't know, the books are divided in half with each side told in Gemma or Lyra's view.) I'm still going to finish Ringer even if it will take a couple of years.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
08/ The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (4 books) > link
I really meant to finish the series but somehow the momento is gone even though I did technically read the first two books last year. I am determined to read the rest of the series even if it takes me another year to ge to it.

Discworld - Witches Series by Terry Pratchett
09/ Discworld - Witches Series by Terry Pratchett (6 books) > link
This is technically part of the 'Discworld' series but there are 41 books in that series! But I really do want to read the Witches books. I will start reading Equal Rites as soon as I get a copy.

Discworld - The Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett
10/ Discworld - The Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett (5 books) > link
I've already read the first three books and I really like this series so far and now there is only two books to finish.

What series are you reading or not reading?

More Top Ten Tuesday over here.

  1. I hope you do find time to finish the Lunar Chronicles! I don't like the last book as much as the first, but the characters are all AMAZING.

  3. I need to get around to finish The Lunar Chronicles too. I haven't read any of the other series you mention, but I am curious about the Discworld series. I have the first one, and maybe I'll get around to read it, but it's such a scary thing starting a 41-book series O.O

    1. I've been trying to finish the lunar chronicles for a while now but I am determined to finish.

there are a lot of books for the discworld series but when you break them down into character series, it's not so bad. I don't actually have any copy of the first few books so I'm not incline to read them. if I have them, I might read them. for now, I'm only going to read the witches and tiffany aching books.

thanks for coming by, have a lovely day.

  4. I feel like a slug. I've only heard of Terry Pratchett, but none of the other authors. Still, I have written them down on my "to maybe find at the library" list.

    1. I didn't know there is a sequel to East either until now. I'll probably read that.

I'm sure I would finish the lunar chronicles eventually.

thanks for visiting, have a lovely day.

  6. Aww that's too bad about Inkheart. I always wondered how those were. I did like the Replica duology. And Pratchett I should probably just try at some point?

    1. I've always said I didn't really like 'inkheart', I suppose if I had read it earlier/when I was a little younger, I might have liked it. did you know they are coming out with a fourth book? also, these books are translated from German so perhaps it's better in German.

Replica is good but Ringer just somehow didn't seem as good, well, the first few chapters anyway.

I heard Pratchett is quite famous, so I am surprised you haven't read one of his books though I myself have only heard of his books last year.

thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.

    2. I did not know that about a fourth book! And Pratchett has serious fans, must be good stuff :)

  7. You really have a varied choice of books which I really love. I'm not that good with series though these days. Hugs...RO

    1. I'm not into series either but these days, almost all books are series so you can't avoid them, well, maybe you could but it would be hard.

thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.

  8. Wow, if a person knew that they like the books you like, then this would be a very helpful list.

This line makes me smile: I might, definitely, maybe will read.

    1. I think if anyone is into fantasy/science fiction, then they might like these books.

'might, definitely, maybe' - that's my way of saying I'm not sure if I'll read these.

thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.
