scribble picnic: favourite fiction character

'the girl with a kind lion inside'

This week's scribble picnic is your favourite fiction character. Luna Lovegood is my favorite character from the Harry Potter series. She is unusual and weird but in a good way. She's a girl with a kind lion inside. I really had wished she and Harry had ended up together because they're essentially the same - they lost a parent, well, he lost two, but they are both outsiders. Luna's more sensible and she's always calm in any situation. She is basically Pippi Longstocking with blond hair. For more scribble picnic, go here.

  1. What a wonderful picture of Luna, and I love the insight you have given me, as I had not seen many of the Harry Potter series. My children and grandchildren love them. We should model Luna with strong insides and yet a gentle spirit.

You work always fascinates me with the perfection of lines and colors. Beautiful.

    1. now that I look at it, I think her eyes are a bit off, she seems to be looking a little to the left.

  3. Such a beautiful painting Lissa. I'm not familiar with the character - I only ever saw the first Harry Potter movie and haven't read the books - but I get the feeling this is a strong yet gentle soul.

    Lovely work - Mary

    1. luna doesn't show up right away in the movies or in the books. she's more apparent in the later books/movies.

    1. it's kind of hard to remember if you have only seen one movie, she doesn't show up right away and isn't always hanging out with the popular three main characters.

thanks for visiting, have a lovely day.

    1. the description of Luna in the books is that her eyes are supposed to always appeard like she is surprised all the time and yet, she is always so calm.

  9. I have watched the Harry Potter Movies, but haven't read the books. You have a good grasp on who Luna Lovegood is and her slight weirdness is what makes her so endearing. These are lovely pictures, Lissa ...

  12. Is that a cork on her necklace under the pentagram?! I wonder if its for magical spells? Anyway, another fabulous entry and so lovely to meet her, as it were. I have not read any of the Potter books or sen the movies but can imagine it's ell done to them. I love her eyes and the whole thing is lovely. Thank you again, Lissa!

    1. she likes wearing corks and such, though it could be magic but I don't recall anything about that in the books.

the movie adaptations are wonderful, they captured the books very well. perhaps you should watch a few of them.

thanks for your visit, have a lovely day.

  13. I love the character you chose. You have portrayed her in a magical way. I enjoy looking at the details you created. Her ring and magical necklaces, her wand with the energy rabbit and yet you say she has a kind lion inside. I could feel my heart respond to this.

    Lovely weekend to you.
